A Loose Ball Foul can only occur when neither team has possession of the ball, this is usually the case when a player has lost control of the ball or the ball is in the air following a missed shot.

A Loose Ball Foul can be assessed when in a Loose Ball Situation, a player pushes, pulls, trips, strikes, bumps or otherwise physically contacts a player with the intention of preventing them from recovering the aforementioned Loose Ball in a way which disadvantages them from doing this.

In the event of a Loose Ball Foul, the player who committed the foul is assessed a Personal Foul, they’re team is assessed a Team Foul, and provided the offending player’s team is not over their Team Foul limit, the team of the player who was fouled will gain possession and inbound the ball from the sideline.
