Pass to a moving target

Lead a moving receiver instead of passing behind them.

Use in practice
A receiver moves across a lane while a pass leads into their path.

Set up

Mark a short lane for the receiver. The passer stands to one side with an unobstructed passing angle.

Run the drill

  1. The receiver walks between the markers and shows their hands.
  2. Pass into the receiver’s path so they can catch without stopping.
  3. The receiver stops, returns the ball and starts again. Swap roles.

Make it easier

Use a slow walk and a short pass.

Add a challenge

Let the receiver vary their pace before showing a target.
